Terezin
Terezin Concentration Camp was a unique and interesting site to see. I have only seen videos and read about the life in a Concentration Camp; and actually visiting the site made me realize how awful life would be. When I first entered the camp, there were blocks of buildings and one road that connected everything. I could not imagine being forced to live with at least six people in a college sized dorm room for years. Having to share one shower area with thousands of other people; and one shower head with five or six people would not make me feel clean.

The showers would have been awful I can't even imagine. That one room that they had to share the two bathrooms between hundreds of people is crazy. It is definitely a different experience than reading a book on it.

ReplyDeleteAlso used camp was used as a fortress under the Austrians which adds to a interesting history for the site.
ReplyDeleteThe creepiest thing about the camps was the separation chambers. I couldn't imagine trying to fall asleep standing.
ReplyDeleteI thought the execution area was one of the saddest parts. Also, the tunnels made me claustrophobic. -Nicolette
ReplyDeleteJust seeing all of those different rooms where fifty or even hundreds of people would be forced to sleep together really gave me a new perspective on how those camps were operated because any of the movies about those camps never seemed to show that.
