NICOLETTE
On Wednesday we went to the Observatory. I enjoyed looking thought the Galena replica telescopes. It would have been more fun if it wasn't raining so we could look into the sky but finding the lights on the building was interesting and challenging. I expected more precision from the telescopes and was amazed that past scientists made such huge discoveries with such limited information. Walking through the observatory building itself was also cool. Learning the history of the building and seeing how it has been used was intriguing.

This was an amazing opportunity for me and a rare occasion for me. Where I was able to not only see the Galena Replica Telescopes, also being able to test them out as well. Which allowed me to get a better understanding of how technology worked during these times and the extent it was used back then compared to now.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was funny that our guide Tiemn (I probably butchered the spelling of his name) made the telescope out of PVC tubing and no one believed that it was an exact optical copy but then he wrapped it in leather and people thought it was amazing. It wad also fun to watch people trying to look at hte buildings and not being able to see anything because they where holding the telescope at such a ridiculous angle you could tell they were not aiming anywhere near where they were trying.
